2009-10-16 – Aion Online Version update

The game has now been updated again, and the new version number is 1.5.0.10. The patch introduces the following changes:

* Gender Tag Fix for French and German languages
* Updated Chat Spam Filter

2009-10-14 – Server Maintenance

At 11 a.m. BST today, the North American servers will be brought down for scheduled maintenance. This is expected to last at least 4 hours, and during that time you might also experience some trouble connecting to the offical website.

2009-10-07 – Combating Aion online Gold Spam.

As the game has gotten more and more popular, this has sadly brought with it something that many MMORPGs today are plagued by: annoying Gold spammers. These players, or bots, consistently spam the chat window with advertisements about their Kinah selling websites. Now NCSoft, the company behind the game, has come out saying that they are implementing new functions to try and alleviate this problem to the best of their ability. One such function will be a chat filter, another will be a new tracking system. Other than that, they also have GMs (Game Masters) who are actively on the lookout for these people, banning them as they get caught. But because of the fact that selling online Kinah is a profitable business, it’s very hard to stop them from coming back. They’ll just buy a new game account and start all over again. Or in the worst case scenario, some poor player’s account gets hacked and used for spam, and then maybe innocently banned.

The best we as a community can do at the moment is to report the spammers using the in-game system. But the queues are already long, and the bots just keep coming back. So an improved system is indeed needed. Lets keep our fingers crossed that they have something good in stores for us.
